'If art is to nourish the root of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.' - John Fitzgerald Kennedy
“You have to feel something about what you're saying if you want anyone else to buy into it”, explains Vivian Sessoms with absolute certainty. “It's important to me to mean what I say when I'm writing or singing a song. It can't simply be just a collection of words.” For Vivian, a life surrounded by music has ingrained the passion and the power of music in her. Born and raised in Harlem, Vivian, whose mother was a session/jingle-singer, and father who was a flautist/percussionist (for James Brown among others), learned the wonder and the craft of music at a young age.
Vivian Sessoms LIFE Part II Album Release Party - at FM
Thursday June 13th 7:30-11:30PM
More than just a collection of songs, LIFE is a conceptual reflection on the world in both a cultural and musical sense. The production is unique, a soulful and almost subterranean groove that sets the perfect vibe for Vivian’s wide ranging vocal talent. When she steps up to the mic with power everyone can feel it, as evidenced in her stunning performance on her tribute to Erica Garner, I Can’t Breathe. Her (and husband and co-producer Chris Parks) choices of select cover songs reveal a specific understanding of music history, from See Line Woman to The Best Is Yet To Come, to One Thing Leads To Another.

Tiffany ’T’zelle’ Wilson is a triple threat (singer/songwriter/actress), born & raised in the Bronx, New York. Her parents were lovers of many of the late R&B, Gospel and Jazz crooners so T’zelle’s household was filled with love and music. Being a preacher’s granddaughter, T’zelle spent many of her young years in a small baptist church with no other musical instrumentation but the congregation’s voices, hand claps and foot stomps, T’zelle learned to appreciate the sound of raw vocals and developed an ear for beautiful harmonies. She and her siblings would sit around the house banging on tables and making up songs for fun. She has done her share of church plays and school productions as a child and has always had love for the arts.
T'zelle's musical experience and talent would allow her get signed to Quincy Jones’ record label (Qwest records) as a teenager, work for Verity/Jive Records, the most successful Gospel label (at the time) and later tour the world with Gospel groups and various recording artists like Diana Ross, Tevin Campbell, Leela James, Carl Thomas, Me’lisa Morgan, Syleena Johnson and Barbara Tucker, just to name a few. Currently, T’zelle is in the studio writing and recording to complete her next solo project “2 Sides & the Truth”.
