Women Hold Up Half The Sky

Women Hold Up Half the Sky is a celebration of black women told through dance and drama set to music, poetry, and visual arts. This production is a tribute to the heritage of the African American woman. The piece is laced with works of noted writers like Nikki Giovanni, Gwendolyn Brooks, June Jordan, and Ntozake Shange. Women is a high-energy production set to live drums, a collection of contemporary jazz, negro spirituals, and contemporary soul. This production is focused on all the known and unknown women whose fire, spirit, courage, endurance, and love have provided a strong foundation for us to hold up our half of the sky!
